"Extra Rise enters the scene bringing Searing Sinister Tones and Tight Hardcore Breakdowns.”

Philippine metalcore band Extra Rise took their name from a famous Filipino phrase while dining. Taking influences from the metalcore acts that emerged in the early 2000’s such as Crown the Empire, blessthefall and The Devil Wears Prada. They started playing covers in underground events to enter the scene. After 2 years of gigs and playing covers, they went on composing and recording their first original songs starting with “TRIUMPHUS”.Formed in 2019, the band consisted of vocalist Anferny Badayos (performs the harsh vocals), vocalist Ry John Dalid (performs the clean vocals), lead guitarist Victor Esparcia, guitarist and vocalist Lycos Valenzuela (who acts as the backup vocals), bassists Jerry Solis and Lavinia Polvoroza (they like to switch from set to set), and drummer Josh Talorong. This lineup recorded the 2021 single “Triumphus”, which was self-released with their own digital artwork.They recently announced the start of their official journey as a band by debuting their single "TRIUMPHUS" independently. Everything about the song were constructed by the band themselves with the distribution being an exception. The band's music mostly centers on the corruption of both politics and people in society, the events that bring up the internal conflict each of us face and how it binds us to a point where there's pain and suffering. This has been a huge thing often disregarded in this modern world. Depression and self-hate have frequent themselves in the minds of the young.Since 2019, they have played in prominent underground events in Bacolod. Starting with Bacolod Underground Assault as their first ever gig, playing along with other underground acts such as Stand as One and Rise Incline, they’ve been accompanied by heavier acts in their early years. With the collaboration of Metalmind Production and Life Sentence Production Bacolod, they played on the Third Chapter of Head Bangers Face Off. In the year 2020, with the impact of the Covid19 Pandemic, and an effort provide assistance to the victims of Typhoon Ulysses in the Philippines, they played a set to raise funds as organized by 918 Music Studios.Starting out, the band faced several issues such as lack of events and budget. As a solution to this, they decided to take matter into their own hands. From promotion and networking to audio recording and album artworks, the band gave their all in order to start the journey they look forward to.Circa 2021, the band teased their music with an intro track name “Wake Up” hinting the style of music they will be playing. Weeks later, they debut with a single track titled “Triumphus”, a song of an experience of inner conflict. Followed by another track titled “Witness” featuring deathcore vocalist Deanbrey exposing the abuse of power of those with power.When the they are away from their instruments and mics, you’ll see them as normal individuals like you and I. Some of them have jobs and some of them work on their individual hobbies. One thing’s for sure, they never stop working on their releases. With each event that comes close, the band is getting ready to release their first ever compositions to the public. Starting with their Debut Single “TRIUMPHUS”. Promising to bring melodic tones accompanying tight breakdowns. They want to start their journey with a bang.
